Arent kids great?

Friday afternoon I was getting ready to go shopping when Addison and her friend came in with some folded up money. She said "look mom, three dollars" I asked her where she got it and she said "we were holding up a sign for cars to read" I asked her what the sign said and her reply was: "just a minute". They went back outside. A few minutes later they came back in and Addison said "we wrote on the sign 'we are trying to get rich please help us'. One car stopped and read our sign and gave us two dollars. Then we went to a house and they read the sign and said just a minute and came back and gave us one dollar." She and her friend were pretty excited about this endeavor. I couldn't help but smile. I couldn't decide what to do or how I should feel about this situation. I gave Addison a little speech about how that was not safe and asked her to please not do it again. Isn't it interesting how little minds think? I guess its time to start giving her an allowance!

Fun on the Farm

Sunday we went to visit my dad. It is always fun to go out there and visit. The kids love to play with the animals. Donovan still doesnt quite understand that they are all in fences and they arent going to attack him so it takes him a little while to get used to it. This time they got to help Grandpa feed the cows and horses and one of the hens hatched some chicks and Grandma got a couple out so that the kids could hold them. Here are a few pictures

Halloween

The kids had a fun filled day on Halloween. Nathan had a class at work and I worked the night before so his sister Becca watched our kids. She took them trick-or-treating at her work. After that they stopped in Bountiful the visit two of the Great Grandparents. When they got home we all met at their house and then went to a few houses around their neighborhood. Then we went over to Nathan's parents house for the traditional home made pizza. Then we went to do more trick-or-treating. I had a lot of fun running around taking pictures of everyone, especially the adults that were acting like kids! We found a few houses that were decorated awsome. It was fun to see the kids reactions to them. We all had a really fun time. The kids were so tired that they just crashed when we got them home. I took a lot of pictures so I figured it would be easier to make a collage of some of them.

Pumpkin Carving

Somehow we ended up with eleven pumpkins. We had always planned on carving the four we got from the pumpkin patch but I dont know what to do with the rest. Anyway, between our work schedules and the nice bout of the stomach flu that has gone through our house this past week we had a hard time getting them done. So Thursday creeps up on us, the day before Halloween, and they are still not done. Let me just tell you how awsome Nathan is... he was home from work sick all day. Well after I had left for work and he and the kids had dinner he decided to do the pumpkins. I just think he is awsome for doing it because I would have never wanted to carve four pumpkins alone with our kids. Especially after being sick all day. Thats like cleaning four pumpkins all by yourself. He even took pictures, which he doesnt do much of. I am so proud of him!

Corn, Pumpkins, and more Corn

Last year we visited Black Island Farms for the first time. We had so much fun that we decided to make it a family tradition. So we went again this year. They have four corn mazes. One for the little kids. Its shaped like a jack-o-lantern. You can see it in the bottom left of the corn maze picture. Then they have the two big ones and a haunted one. We didnt do the haunted one and its a good thing. The kids were scared enough just walking by it in the normal corn maze. They also have a hay ride that takes you out to the pumpkin patch. I was so sad because the batteries in my camera died right as I went to take a picture in the pumpkin patch. I had to wait to get back to the car to get new ones. So we all picked out a pumpkin to take home with us. They had some pretty big ones out there this year. They also have the courtyard that has huge slides made out of huge hay bails. I think the slides are the kids' favorite part of the whole place! They also have a huge jack-o-lantern for kids to jump in, a corn shoot, paintball shoot, train ride, a box full of corn kind of like a sandbox, a little hay maze, duck races, roping practice, animals, and bon fires. They also had pig races. Both of our kids were chosen to be volunteers to cheer pigs on. Both of their pigs won so they both won pumpkins. We ended up going home with six pumpkins! We all had a lot of fun. It is nice to be able to spend time doing things like this as a family. This is one tradition I definately want to keep going!

Pumpkin Painting

Grandma Netta (aka my mom) gave the kids some little pumpkins. I decided it would be fun to paint them. We also had Addison's best friend Rachel over to join in on the fun. They had a blast. Donovan's pumpkin was covered in paint by the time I made him stop and he threw a huge fit. So I gave him some paper to paint on. They all had a great time. Next year we will have to buy new paint though because Donovan mixed all of the colors!

The Wisdom of Hot Chocolate

This was sent to me as an email. It hits home for me because of some things a few people in my life are going through, and continue to go through because that is what they chose for themselves. Enjoy!

A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go visit their old university professor, now retired. During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives. Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups - porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate. When they all had a cup of hot chocolate in hand, the professor said: "Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While its normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. The cup that you're drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the chocolate. Donovan's Birthday

Yesterday was Donovan's birthday. I CAN NOT believe that my baby boy is already three years old. Kids grow up too dang fast. He had a fun day and has really been enjoying his train he got from Grandma Great. I will have to post pictures of that later. Here are a few from his party.

Rainy Day

Between rainstorms last Saturday the kids played outside on the trampoline. It started to sprinkle a little so they got the tent to protect them. (Too bad there is a big hole in the top!) It started raining harder and Donovan didn't like it one bit. He got out and started crying!
I like these two pictures cuz you can see the rain coming down. Nathan went out to save Donovan.
We went out front to see if there were any good puddles so that I could teach Addison the joy of puddle jumping, and we saw these two rainbows. What a beautiful day! I love autumn rainstorms!

Big Helper

Two of Donovan's favorite things to do are be with Dad and play in the water. So when Nathan was cleaning the driveway Donovan really wanted to help. Nathan had the hose from the front of the house and Donovan had the hose from the back of the house. I thought it was really cute so I took some pictures! Donovan kept accidentally spraying Nathan....well one time wasnt an accident, I told him to do it.

Nathan got tired of being sprayed and so he sprayed Donovan back. Well he started screaming. I was trying to get a picture but he kept coming over to me because he wanted his clothes changed. After we changed him he went right backout to help. This time he was very careful to not spray Daddy! I thought I would also include this picture instead of doing a separate post. He is like his dad in so many ways. His story book reader wasnt working right so he got a screw driver and took the battery cover off to check the batteries. I didnt think he would get it off, but he did. This is when he was putting it back on. I just thought it was crazy that he could do that and he is only three!

My Awsome Hike

On August 16th I did the annual Fenn family hike. We hiked up Timpanoke and down Timpanogus. It is a 12 mile hike to the lake or 14 miles to the summit. We only went to the lake and that was enough to kick my butt. I was pretty sore the next day. It was fun though.

Here is the lake and what used to be the glacier. It has shrunk a lot. The lake is clear and beautiful. It is actually bigger than this picture makes it look. The picture doesnt do it justice.

Paper Airplane Fun

My favorite thing to do after dinner is sit on the swing on our back porch and watch the sunset while the kids play. The other night Nathan was teaching the kids how to make and fly paper airplanes. They had a lot of fun and Addison even decorated one of them.

Exciting News

I am SUPER excited so I have to share with everyone. I got into the nursing program at the DATC! YAY! Finally! It starts in January. I am contracted with IASIS meaning I will have to work for them full time for two years after I graduate or else pay them $4,400. I plan to work while I do it. Yah it's going to suck but what can I do? Life goes on. It will totally be worth it in the end. So join with me in saying cheers to me!

Photo Shoot

The pictures of our family that we have on our wall were getting outdated. I didn't feel like paying a professional a ton of money to get new ones, so I decided to dust of my photography skills and put them to work. We went to the Ogden Parkway and took a few pictures.

Donovan was being a little stinker. He didn't want his picture taken!

So as you can see I need to brush up a bit on my skills. But with some digital editing I will atleast have something to hang on my wall.
